Where to find us

Riverside Café is situated between Nelson and the Abel Tasman National Park, in The Moutere Region.

Take the Inland Highway, otherwise known as the Moutere Highway or, as it's signposted from Nelson; 'The Scenic Route'.

Go through the German village of Upper Moutere (Sarau)] then down into Lower Moutere where you will find the historic Riverside Community.
You will see our distinctive dragon sign on the right hand side. There's plenty of parking so pull in.

From Motueka take the Moutere Highway towards Nelson and within a few minutes you will spot our sign on the left.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, come and recharge yourself at Riverside Caf?, or enjoy a hearty breakfast before you set out on your day's adventures.

Dining at The Riverside Café & Restaurant

Riverside Café fronts the historic and still vibrant, Riverside Community (est. 1941) which has a long tradition of sustainable living systems and organic farming.

Riverside Café was recommended by both North and South, and Cuisine Magazine this year and won Best Café/Restaurant Garden in 2002. The café excels in casual gourmet dinning with many ingredients grown organically at the Community while others, like Supplejack Olive Oil are sourced locally.

The Café menu also includes vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. The superb food is complimented by a range of organic and locally grown and produced wines. The unique natural ambience of the Riverside Café, with its filched tables and magical copper creations is further enhanced by exhibitions of local artworks.

Inspirational indoor/outdoor dinning and secure children's play area. Diners at the café are welcome to take a walk around this peaceful and attractive community and Riverside Café staff are happy to answer any questions you might have.
